The UNIDO Investment and Technology Promotion Office (ITPO) Korea successfully conducted a business mission to Peru and Colombia from February 4 to 9, 2025. The trip aimed to strengthen partnerships and advance collaboration opportunities through ITPO Korea’s Advisory Programme.
The visit had two main objectives: finalizing the selection of ITPO Korea’s regional advisor and enhancing strategic engagements with key stakeholders. The primary goal was to identify and appoint the most suitable candidate for the Advisory Programme, ensuring strong representation and expertise in the region. Additionally, the delegation focused on building strategic partnerships by holding discussions with key organizations to explore cooperation opportunities in investment, technology exchange, and startup support. Through these engagements, ITPO Korea aimed to reinforce ITPO Korea’s commitment to fostering long-term economic ties in the region.
ITPO Korea held meetings with several prominent institutions to discuss various aspects of cooperation. Discussions with INICTEL-UNI focused on ICT and technology collaboration in Peru, while engagements with KOICA Peru explored partnerships in development and innovation. Meetings with PromPerú aimed to strengthen investment promotion strategies, and discussions with the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Peru centered on enhancing diplomatic and economic ties. ITPO Korea also collaborated with Peru’s Congress and the Science, Technology, and Innovation Committee to support the development of technological industrial parks and the advancement of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Additionally, talks with the Ministry of Production in Peru focused on fostering the growth of Peruvian startups and MSMEs. ITPO Korea also worked with ProColombia and Innpulsa to advance technology and investment initiatives between Korea and Colombia.
The mission reaffirmed ITPO Korea’s commitment to fostering business expansion and technology transfer between Korea and Latin America. Building on these discussions, ITPO Korea plans to collaborate closely with its partners to implement joint technology transfer programs, facilitate investment matchmaking events between Korean and Latin American companies, and provide advisory support to entrepreneurs looking to expand into new markets. This initiative marks a significant step in ITPO Korea’s ongoing efforts to strengthen investment and technology exchange, with a focus on building long-term partnerships that drive sustainable economic development in the region.
