February 26, 2025 — The United Nations Industrial Development Organization Investment and Technology Promotion Office in Korea (UNIDO ITPO Korea), in collaboration with the Korea-Africa Foundation, held discussions to enhance investment promotion and technology transfer between Korea and Ethiopia.
During this meeting, Gemechu, the Ethiopian Advisor at ITPO Korea, met with Jee Yoon-jin, the Head of the Education and Public Relations Program at the Korea-Africa Foundation, to share updates on their respective initiatives. They agreed to continue discussions on potential collaboration for key upcoming activities.
Key initiatives proposed to strengthen cooperation between private enterprises in Korea and Ethiopia included startup technology support, youth entrepreneurship support projects, and the Korea-Africa Business Forum. ITPO Korea’s advisor suggested various projects aimed at fostering startup and youth-centered activities in collaboration with the Korea-Africa Foundation. These proposals were met with a positive response, and both sides agreed to further discussions.
Moving forward, UNIDO ITPO Korea will build upon this productive dialogue to promote startup support and the activation of youth-led startups, thereby contributing to sustainable economic growth and strengthening global cooperation between Korea and Ethiopia.
